privacy policy

Uplift of Rural Iowa is a small nonprofit, and we try to collect as little about you as we can. This page explains what happens when you visit our website.

What we collect

Visit statistics, only if you say yes. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you're okay with an analytics cookie. If you click Accept, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use; things like how many people visited this month, which pages they looked at, roughly what region they're in, and what kind of device they used. This helps us tell whether the site is actually useful to the families and neighbors it's meant for.

Google Analytics does this by placing small files called cookies in your browser. The information goes to Google, which processes it on our behalf. We see only totals and trends. We can't see who you are, and we don't try to.

If you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set, and the site works exactly the same.

Messages you send us. If you fill out our interest form or email us about volunteering, an internship, or anything else, we use what you send (your name, email address, and whatever you tell us about yourself) to reply to you and to consider you for the role you picked. If you ask to hear about future events, we'll keep your email address for that. We don't add anyone to a mailing list without asking.

Spam protection. Our interest form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block automated spam. It collects some information about your device and browser, which Google uses under its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't use your visit to show you ads anywhere else. We don't ask for or collect information about your health, your family, or your finances through this website.

Children

This website is written for adults: parents, volunteers, students, and partners. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Links to other sites

Our site links to other places, including our Facebook page and Linktree. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and what happens there is up to them.

Your choices

You can change your mind about analytics cookies at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser, which will bring the banner back. You can also block Google Analytics on every website using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

To learn how Google handles data from sites like ours, see Google's explanation at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
